THIS SUNDAY WE WILL DISCUSS "DEMENTIA." TODAY A LECTURE WAS GIVEN BY AMANDA SMITH, MD ENTITLED "Prevention & Diagnosis of Memory Loss." Notice there was "no treatment" in the title. WHY? Because there has been no NEW Rx for this condition in the past 10 years--BUT, there has been progress in diagnosing it EARLY and thus helping to prevent progression.
That will be the main point--YES, there
are things to prevent onset too early for if we get to age 85, 50% of us
will be demented AND in today's paper it mentioned that the children
born today have a 10% change of living beyond 100---think of the
problems ahead UNLESS research comes through!
