MARCO Grand Rounds for July 25, 2010

From Warren KD4GUA:

This Sunday, Ian k3ik, Shavertown, PA. has volunteered to lecture us on "How to keep health care rationing ethical."

If you have had trouble receiving Ian in the past don't vacate....we will be forwarding his comments and yours.

Should be fun (?), difficult subject with lots and lots of opinions. Bring your bullet-proof vest--but remember, this is a positive approach without politics (if possible).

Behavioral Weight Loss

Bob, K4RLC contributed this via the email reflector:

You had a net on weight some weeks ago. I had meant to relate this.

A simple, behavioral technique for weight control is to have the
patient write down everything and anything they eat...even a glass ofwater and a single potato chip.

They can carry a 3X5 card, or pocket size spiral notebook.

Writing all food intake down does a couple of things: one is that youcan track the calories in your diet, and have the information to make positive changes; the other is that by writing down and paying more attention, many will change their bad eating habits.

MARCO Grand Rounds for July 11, 2010

From Warren, KD4GUA:

It was requested we talk about "AutoImmune Diseases" but this topic is so large that it would be impossible to cover it in one hour. Therefore, we will talk about an auto-immune disease RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS. There was another request for "Bee Stings" but that was too short a subject. Tune in Sunday, 10 a.m. 14.307, should be a fun topic!!!!!!!
