MARCO Grand Rounds for July 17, 2011

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WARREN!!

Danny W4DAN thought "heat stroke" might be a tidy topic for these hot days of summer...also, request from Jerry N4TSC for "TENS" and "interferential therapy for back pain and sciatica which we will attempt to cover the following Sunday....any more ideas?

Tune in Sunday 11 am. 14.307--fun time.

Hi Bruce,
I already had bruce.small73 on Skype, but what next? Haven't used Skype. Do I hit the Call or Video call button?
I was sending you text messages thru Skype. Did you get them?
This is the free version.
Tnx,
Bob

Hi, Bob,

I am no expert on Skype as I only use it to broadcast Warren's comments. I have never actually called someone!

My understanding is that you select me from your list of contacts, then
in the Menu Bar you will find an option to place a call (not a video
call). The details vary a bit between different versions of Skype. When you place the call I will see that you are there, and add you to the conference.

I did see your text messages, but to be honest I don't know how to
answer someone who isn't already part of the conversation.

In terms of logistics and etiquette, I generally start Skype about 5 minutes prior to the net, so you can call any time after that. If I don't answer, wait a few minutes and try again - I may be distracted!

Please mute your computer's microphone. Any background noise goes out over the Skype feed and becomes QRM for other listeners.

We frequently have a parallel conversation going via IM texting - and I DO know how to answer those who are connected.

I will look for you next week.

If you have further quetions, shoot them to me directly via km2l (at) arrl.net.
